Location: Remote (home office) – southern Michigan area
Salary: $90,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do
- Conduct forensic investigations via site inspections to determine cause, origin, and extent of structural damage.
- Analyze failure modes and contributing factors and develop well-supported conclusions.
- Produce clear technical reports, documentation, and other deliverables.
- Provide timely updates and manage expectations with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Work independently from a home office while leveraging internal experts and resources.
- Drive issues to resolution with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and tools.
Requirements
- Location/authorization: Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Michigan required, or eligible by reciprocity.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or closely related) from an ABET-accredited university required.
- Strong technical writing skills to produce effective reports; strong verbal communication skills for face-to-face interactions.
- Ability to perform fieldwork, including confined spaces and roof inspections, and to carry ladders and operate required equipment.
- Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally by vehicle or plane as needed (some overnight travel required).
