Location: On-site in Santa Fe, NM or Phoenix, AZ

Salary: $125,000 - $150,000 per year + commission

What you will do

  • Serve as a proactive advocate for priorities in New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona by engaging with legislators and executive agencies.
  • Develop policy and appropriations strategies to address water supply challenges and state-level precipitation enhancement programs.
  • Drive involvement in legislative sessions and budget cycles to align policy initiatives with funding opportunities.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with legislators, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.
  • Prepare and deliver testimony, policy briefs, and presentations to relevant committees and decision-making bodies.
  • Organize and facilitate site visits and educational forums for lawmakers and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, or legislative/executive roles.
  • Proven track record of shaping state legislative and budgetary outcomes in the American West.
  • In-depth understanding of state policy frameworks intersecting with water supply and environmental protection.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees in political science, law, or related fields are a plus.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% or more for legislative sessions and stakeholder engagements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
