What you will do

• Provide functional safety systems engineering analysis to establish a safety case for autonomous trucks.
• Support the development of compute platform components including embedded compute, LiDAR, radar, and cameras.
• Lead design discussions in functional safety across hardware, software, validation, and operations.
• Conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA) and perform FTA, FMEA, and DFA.
• Collaborate with sensors and base hardware teams to progress deliverables with automotive Tier-1 suppliers.
• Maintain requirements databases and traceability using DOORS and Jama.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience (or Master's degree and 2+ years).
• Experience in an automotive related field.
• Strong understanding of ISO 26262 (FUSA) and ISO 21448 (SOTIF).
• Familiarity with functional safety analysis processes such as HAZOP, FMEA, STPA, and FTA.
• Must be based in or able to work in Ann Arbor, MI.

Nice to have

• Software or Hardware engineering experience.
• Expertise with various sensor modalities (LiDAR, camera, radar, etc).
• Experience with motion control systems or ADAS safety concepts.
• Experience with Jira.
