Salary: $112,000 - $187,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead hardware research embedded within product teams via interviews, usability studies, and field research.
• Apply qualitative and quantitative methodologies to uncover deep user needs across hardware and software contexts.
• Guide cross-functional teams in research planning and mentor other designers to raise collective capability.
• Utilize AI tools to accelerate synthesis and pattern recognition to compress the feedback loop.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and designers to translate findings into actionable product direction.

Requirements

• 5+ years of design research experience in tech environments.
• Proven track record of connecting research insights to design outcomes.
• Fluency in AI-assisted research tools to accelerate delivery without sacrificing quality.
• Expertise in research methodologies for hardware, consumer electronics, or hard goods.
• Based in or near Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Lincoln, or Omaha.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in HCI, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or a related field.
• Experience working with software product teams and digital product development.
