Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote from any location; the posting references Kyiv, Ukraine.

Digital banking and lending products provide consumer financial services, while additional services support underwriting, fraud detection, and analytics for other companies.

What you will do

• Design, develop, modify, and scale software systems while considering service architecture.
• Build new systems, refactor existing systems, integrate external services, and deliver performance improvements.
• Translate business requirements into usable and scalable software.
• Analyze user needs and determine whether to modify existing software or build new solutions.
• Lead design and code reviews and collaborate with developers, QA, Product Managers, and technical leadership.
• Contribute to the engineering vision, roadmap, team strategy, and incremental delivery of large initiatives.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience with non-trivial web applications.
• 3+ years of Ruby on Rails experience.
• Experience designing relational data models.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions based on business goals and break down complex initiatives into incremental deliverables.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work across teams on complex issues.
• Experience building systems from the ground up and addressing poor design assumptions and scaling challenges.

Nice to have

• Experience with Hotwire Turbo, Stimulus, and Tailwind.
• Advanced SQL experience for investigating complex issues and creating reporting.
• Strong frontend or DevOps infrastructure experience.
• Prior fintech experience.
