Senior Elasticsearch and Database Architect

**The Company

** Our client is a global technology-driven organization operating one of the largest data platforms in Japan. Their database division is responsible for designing and operating highly scalable, resilient, and performance-critical infrastructure that supports millions of users and large-scale data processing needs.

**The Role

** You will own the architecture, deployment, and optimization of Elasticsearch and database platforms within a Kubernetes-based environment. This role focuses on ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance of large-scale data systems while also driving best practices and mentoring engineers.

**Key Responsibilities Include

**

• Design, deploy, and manage large-scale Elasticsearch clusters (multi-node, TB-level data)
• Optimize search and indexing performance (shards, mappings, analyzers, query tuning)
• Tune Elasticsearch environments (JVM, GC, cluster settings)
• Implement monitoring and alerting using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Kibana

• Build and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Troubleshoot production issues and lead root cause analysis
• Drive automation using Python and Bash scripting
• Manage containerized database environments on Kubernetes
• Collaborate with development, SRE, and operations teams
• Lead technical discussions, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices

**What You Bring To The Table

**

• Strong experience designing and operating Elasticsearch clusters in production environments
• Solid knowledge of Elasticsearch architecture (indexing, sharding, replication, query DSL)
• Hands-on experience managing MySQL in scalable, high-availability setups
• Experience working with Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Strong scripting skills (Python and/or Bash) for automation
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, etc.)

**Preferred Experience

**

• Experience with additional NoSQL databases (e.g., Couchbase)
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform)
• Understanding of database security and encryption practices
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience
