Senior Technical Lead (R&D)

TL;DR

What you will do

• Lead the design, prototyping, and development of mission-relevant software and platform capabilities.
• Build backend services, APIs, and full-stack applications using modern engineering practices.
• Translate ambiguous mission needs and user workflows into functional software solutions.
• Support rapid build, demo, and iteration cycles for R&D initiatives.
• Guide architecture decisions and mentor other engineers through implementation challenges.
• Deploy and support applications in cloud-native, containerized, or Kubernetes-based environments.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required due to federal contract requirements.
• Professional background in developing software systems, backend services, and platform capabilities.
• Proficiency with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar modern programming languages.
• Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms, Kubernetes, containers, and DevSecOps.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15% for R&D events and technical demos.
• Strong communication skills for explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Active Secret clearance or higher.
• Experience supporting DoD, Air Force, Platform One, Big Bang, or ISR programs.
• Familiarity with Go, FastAPI, Postgres, AWS, Helm, or Terraform.
• Exposure to AI-enabled systems, LLMs, and autonomy-adjacent technologies.
• History of leading engineering projects or guiding architecture decisions.
