What you will do

• Own the implementation of regulatory requirements in Japan and ensure alignment across deployment jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Legal teams to embed regulatory alignment into programme workflows.
• Identify friction points between regulations and technical reality to support Public Policy advocacy.
• Define, track, and update compliance requirements using internal tools to ensure traceability.
• Act as the primary technical liaison on regulatory matters for OEM partners and suppliers.

Requirements

• Experience with certification and homologation processes in Japan and at the UNECE level.
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and operationalize them into internal documentation.
• Skill in comparing detailed product specifications against regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Must be based in or able to work from Tokyo or Yokohama, Japan (Hybrid).

Nice to have

• Experience with ADAS/AV regulations, specifically L2/L3 systems.
• Familiarity with systems and tools for tracking compliance requirements in engineering programs.
• Knowledge of how AI/ML-based systems interact with traditional automotive safety standards.
