What you will do
- Perform daily billing and follow-up activities for government and non-government accounts to support the revenue cycle.
- Document claims billed, paid, and settled while identifying and escalating issues affecting billing accuracy.
- Investigate overpayments, underpayments, credit balances, and payment delays to maximize reimbursement.
- Research and correct claim rejections to ensure timely and accurate claim resolution.
- Contact patients and third-party payers to determine the cause of payment delays and supply necessary data.
- Provide training, guidance, and problem resolution to lower-level colleagues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in revenue cycle functions within a hospital, clinic, or healthcare financial setting.
- Experience with the Epic medical billing system is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently while operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with hospital medical billing follow-up specifically for commercial payors.
- Completion of regulatory/mandatory certifications and skills validation competencies.
