What you will do

• Define multi-year technical roadmaps for major platform areas such as billing, integrations, and data platforms.
• Design and lead the implementation of foundational distributed services, APIs, and shared libraries that span multiple product teams.
• Lead critical architectural transitions, including monolith decomposition, HA upgrades, and multi-region rollouts.
• Implement high-leverage, high-risk projects and establish the technical standard for code quality at the company.
• Mentor and grow Senior and Staff engineers, guiding them toward more senior leadership roles.
• Partner with the CTO and product leadership to translate business strategy into engineering execution.

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record at Staff level or higher.
• Deep expertise in a modern backend stack (Java/Spring, Node/TypeScript, Python, or Go).
• Strong systems-design ability for distributed systems, data modeling, and scaling under significant production load.
• Production expertise with AWS, GCP, or Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana).
• Proficiency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot) to materially accelerate development velocity.
• Must be based in Canada
