What you will do

• Produce specialized research equipment via high-precision machining by analyzing user requests and determining suitable materials.
• Design new or prototype test equipment and prepare working drawings for manufacturing or reports.
• Manage the operation of the model shop, including the maintenance of tools, jigs, and safety equipment.
• Capture industrial-quality photographs of test procedures, installations, and prototypes for reports.
• Provide operating instructions and guidance to staff to ensure shop safety.

Requirements

• Completion of Machinist trades qualification or another formal trades' qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of related fabrication shop experience.
• Strong drafting skills and knowledge of machining procedures and methods.
• Working knowledge of metals, plastics, and related testing standards.
• Must pass pre-qualification alcohol and drug testing as a condition of employment (safety-sensitive role).
