Subject Matter Expert (Sustainable Packaging Compliance)

Location: Hybrid (Deventer, Netherlands); must be able to work from the office at least once a week

What you will do

• Advise brand owners, converters, and manufacturers on meeting PPWR requirements.
• Develop compliance roadmaps, including gap analyses and recyclability assessments.
• Train clients on regulatory requirements via workshops, webinars, and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal tech teams to co-develop software for recyclability scoring, reuse tracking, and digital passports.
• Monitor and interpret regulatory updates to provide practical business guidance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in sustainable packaging compliance, regulatory affairs, or circular economy initiatives.
• Deep expertise in PPWR and sustainability metrics (recyclability, reuse, compostability).
• Proven ability to translate complex regulations into practical business advice.
• Project management experience within cross-functional teams.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Availability to work from the Deventer (Netherlands) office at least once a week.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Dutch, French, or German.
• Background in food packaging materials and safety standards (e.g., EU 10/2011).
• Experience in software co-development working with product and tech teams.
• Interest in digital tools such as LCA tools and traceability systems.
