Location: Hybrid in Eindhoven, Netherlands (1 day per week at the office). Relocation to the Netherlands is available.

What you will do

• Operate and improve PostgreSQL clusters running on AWS RDS and Aurora.
• Analyze and optimize complex queries, indexes, and schemas to resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Manage and advise on No-SQL and caching solutions (Redis/Valkey) and event platforms (NATS, RabbitMQ).
• Lead the “DB Engineering Enablement” program, providing training, playbooks, and guidelines to backend developers.
• Design scalable DB schemas and data patterns within a microservices environment.
• Influence the long-term data architecture strategy focusing on reliability, observability, and cost-efficiency.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in database engineering, administration, or architecture.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in high-availability production environments.
• 3+ years of experience operating PostgreSQL on AWS (RDS or Aurora).
• Strong command of PostgreSQL internals (planner, vacuuming, WAL, query plans).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and Kubernetes-based environments.
• Proven ability to mentor and run internal technical enablement programs.

Nice to have

• Exposure to analytical databases such as Redshift, ClickHouse, or Snowflake.
• Experience defining data governance, versioning, or lifecycle policies.
• Contributions to open-source PostgreSQL tooling or libraries.
