What you will do
- Lead board bring-up, validation, and root-cause issues across circuits, firmware integration points, and full-system behavior.
- Own production-intent electrical design, including schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and DFM.
- Design and validate multi-rail power architectures and mechatronic sensing platforms.
- Ensure designs meet safety certifications (UL, ETL, FCC, EU, Canada) and lead the transition from prototype to production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, firmware, and science teams to drive architecture and tradeoff decisions.
- Manage relationships with ODMs, CMs, and PCB vendors for sourcing and alternates qualification.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience on production hardware products, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership through bring-up and validation.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium or equivalent tools.
- Solid experience with microprocessors, sensor integration, motor control, and embedded systems.
- Comfort working with AC power systems and a deep understanding of relevant safety considerations.
- Strong bench proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and PCB rework tools.
Nice to have
- Scripting proficiency in Python and embedded C/C++ for test automation and prototype firmware.
- Experience with high-power appliances, commercial equipment, or industrial product development.
- Safety certification experience (UL, ETL, FCC, CE, IC), including EMI debug and cert lab management.
- Thermal system design expertise, including component derating and heat dissipation.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, RS-485, and CAN.
- Experience with Jetson, Raspberry Pi CM, or similar embedded compute platforms.
- Startup experience.
