Backend Engineer (AI)

TL;DR

Backend Engineer (AI): Building and scaling systems, services, and ML pipelines for an AI-native video platform with an accent on generative media integration and distributed systems. Focus on owning critical backend systems end-to-end, solving complex concurrency challenges, and deploying large-scale AI models in production.

Location: Must be in-person at the NYC HQ (Union Square)

Salary: $175K – $275K + Equity

What you will do

• Design, build, and own backend services, APIs, and data pipelines end-to-end.
• Solve complex technical challenges across distributed systems, scaling, and performance.
• Integrate and operate large generative AI models in production, combining internal research and external capabilities.
• Instrument and iterate in production to continuously improve system and product quality.
• Design and operate core platform infrastructure, including security and third-party integrations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional industry experience.
• Proven track record of shipping high-impact systems and products in production.
• Exceptional problem-solving fundamentals and ability to learn quickly.
• Strong engineering taste and practicality in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to scope and deliver projects end-to-end.

Nice to have

• Extensive work with LLMs and generative media models.
• Experience as a startup founder or early engineer at a startup.
