Senior Frontend Developer (React)

Location: Hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, including Cheltenham, London, Hursley, Leicester, Manchester, Hampshire, or Gloucestershire. Up to 80% or four days per week may be worked from home depending on project requirements.

What you will do

• Develop responsive, accessible, secure, and high-performance frontend applications using modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Translate UI/UX designs into user-focused interfaces aligned with WCAG and government digital standards.
• Build reusable components, shared UI patterns, design systems, and scalable codebases.
• Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, QA, DevOps, clients, and delivery teams on integrated solutions.
• Test, debug, and optimize frontend applications across browsers and devices while supporting Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Depending on seniority, define architecture and engineering standards, lead delivery, mentor developers, and communicate technical decisions to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Eligibility for enhanced Security Check (eSC) or enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV) clearance is required; the role is also subject to UK BPSS screening and possible additional national security vetting.
• Advanced proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Hands-on experience with React, Vue, or Next.js, including component-driven architecture and state management.
• Strong knowledge of responsive design, accessibility, usability, frontend testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Git workflows, REST API integration, component libraries, design systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication and analytical skills for troubleshooting complex technical issues and proposing effective solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience leading frontend teams or acting as a technical lead on complex digital delivery projects.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, cloud-native delivery, Node, or server-side JavaScript.
• Consulting or client-facing experience.
• Relevant AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, or Terraform certifications.
