Senior Frontend Engineer (React)

Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom; hybrid, with 60% of the week spent at office locations or local sites and the remainder remote.

What you will do

• Develop and implement scalable frontend systems using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node, and related tooling.
• Profile and optimize code while applying architectural, cohesion, maintainability, and accessibility principles.
• Translate product requirements into tasks and code, leading system design discussions with product stakeholders.
• Build secure, maintainable software with continuous integration and delivery, automated testing, instrumentation, and infrastructure as code.
• Support production systems, participate in on-call processes, resolve incidents, debug complex problems, and perform root cause analysis.
• Share knowledge, mentor engineers, and develop proof-of-concepts for evaluating new tools.

Requirements

• Commercial experience as a frontend software developer.
• Strong web development skills across semantic HTML, CSS, TypeScript, React, Redux, React Router, and related technologies.
• Experience with Node and high-traffic applications, REST and GraphQL APIs, UI performance, web accessibility, usability, and cross-browser development.
• Experience with testing tools and practices including React Testing Library, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, BDD, ATDD, and TDD.
• Exposure to DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, continuous delivery, secure coding, and production support.
• Ability to collaborate with product stakeholders, work in Lean and Agile environments, and use AI-assisted engineering tools securely and responsibly.

Nice to have

• Experience creating responsive and adaptive designs for multiple viewports.
• Experience with Remix or Next.js.
• Experience developing for non-standard devices.
