Senior Frontend Engineer - Tills UI (React/TypeScript)

Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom; hybrid work with 60% of the week at office locations or local sites and the remainder remotely

What you will do

• Develop and implement scalable frontend systems using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node, and related tooling.
• Profile and optimise code while applying architectural principles to create maintainable, modular software.
• Translate product requirements into technical tasks and deliver high-quality code through continuous integration and delivery.
• Implement automated testing, instrumentation, secure coding practices, and web performance improvements.
• Collaborate with product stakeholders, lead system design discussions, and contribute to product improvements.
• Support production systems, resolve incidents, perform root cause analysis, mentor engineers, and evaluate new tools through proof of concepts.

Requirements

• Commercial experience as a frontend software developer.
• Strong web development skills across semantic HTML, CSS, TypeScript, React, Redux, and related technologies.
• Experience with frontend testing tools such as React Testing Library, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Jasmine, Enzyme, or Mocha.
• Experience using Node to create high-traffic applications and integrating REST API endpoints.
• Understanding of web accessibility, usability, cross-browser and cross-device development, UI performance, and maintainable code.
• Exposure to DevOps and Lean or Agile practices, including BDD, ATDD, and TDD.

Nice to have

• Experience bringing responsive and adaptive designs across multiple viewports to life.
• Experience with Remix, Next, state machines, statecharts, or XState.
• Experience developing web applications for non-standard devices.
