TL;DR
Software Development Engineer, AWS DMS (C/C++): Building and maintaining the core C/C++ replication engine for large-scale database migrations across PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server with an accent on reliability, security, and production-scale performance. Focus on diagnosing memory corruption and CDC failures, expanding combinatorial automated testing, delivering security fixes, and resolving incidents across large customer fleets.

What you will do
- Design, implement, and ship features and fixes in the C/C++ replication engine for PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server endpoints.
- Diagnose production crashes, memory corruption, CDC failures, and data validation issues using core dumps, profilers, and systematic debugging.
- Build automated and combinatorial test coverage with the Scalable Test Platform.
- Deliver security fixes, remediate vulnerabilities, prevent credential exposure, and support secure supply-chain builds.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, release management, and on-call incident resolution.
- Collaborate with Database Engineers to reproduce customer issues and translate production failures into verified fixes.
Requirements
- Experience programming in at least one software language or in embedded C/C++ development.
- Experience leading architecture and design for reliable, scalable systems.
- Experience debugging, profiling, and applying software engineering best practices in large-scale systems.
- Experience with relational database technologies such as Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, or Redshift.
Nice to have
- Experience with database replication, CDC, logical replication, or log-based capture technologies.
- Experience with security vulnerability remediation in production systems.
- Experience building automated test frameworks and improving complex-system test coverage.
- Experience with AddressSanitizer, ThreadSanitizer, Helgrind, or similar memory-safety tooling.
- Experience operating large-scale services and managing deployment pipelines for large fleets.
