Thermal 1D VDDV Engineer (Automotive): Executing 1D thermal system modeling and virtual validation for vehicle programs with an accent on thermal physics, system behavior, and component interactions. Focus on advancing virtual development and validation (VDDV) capabilities, optimizing model accuracy, and supporting design decisions through data-based recommendations.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Warren, Michigan. This role is hybrid and requires reporting to the office at least 3 times a week.

What you will do

• Execute 1D thermal system simulations to support vehicle thermal sizing and virtual validation.
• Apply thermal physics knowledge to identify system issues and recommend data-based solutions.
• Develop and enhance VDDV tools, methods, and standard work for all-virtual development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including propulsion, validation, calibration, and software.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and risk reduction in the VDDV workflow.
• Provide technical guidance and training to less experienced engineers on analysis tools and practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in powertrain cooling or A/C system analysis.
• Experience with 1D thermal system modeling.
• Proficiency with GT-Power and MATLAB.
• Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
• DFSS Black Belt certification.
