Thermal 1D VDDV Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid role based in Warren, Michigan, with attendance at the specified location at least three times per week. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits. What you will do

• Execute 1D thermal system simulations for vehicle thermal sizing, development, and virtual validation.
• Analyze thermal physics, system behavior, component interactions, and model assumptions to identify issues and recommend solutions.
• Develop and apply VDDV tools, methods, and standard work for an all-virtual vehicle development approach.
• Improve model robustness, modularization, optimization, accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability.
• Collaborate with system and module teams, suppliers, propulsion systems, validation, calibration, and software development teams.
• Communicate analysis results, risks, and recommendations while providing technical guidance to less experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in powertrain cooling or A/C system analysis.
• Experience with 1D thermal system modeling and a strong understanding of thermal systems and components.
• Proficiency with GT-Power, MATLAB, and related system modeling tools.
• DFSS Black Belt certification.
• Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to resolve routine engineering problems independently.
