TL;DR

Salary: £34,000 - £38,000

What you will do

  • Manage a customer portfolio and accurately process end-to-end payroll, including reports and journals.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor team members, conducting regular one-to-ones and identifying training needs.
  • Maintain service standards and KPIs while managing high payslip volumes and competing demands.
  • Update payroll systems with current tax thresholds, NI rates, and pension deduction rates.
  • Handle complex payroll queries and calculate pay adjustments, including outstanding holiday pay.
  • Collaborate with payroll leadership through weekly progress meetings.

Requirements

  • Proven payroll experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be based in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
  • Strong understanding of local government pay and conditions.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize your own workload and that of your team.
  • Understanding of HR policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
