What you will do

• Build a high-performance query engine to support complex relationship traversals for demanding workloads.
• Drive high-priority projects to enhance platform resilience, scalability, and value across multiple teams.
• Lead and mentor engineers through critical architectural platform decisions.
• Identify system risks and design solutions to improve reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with product teams to align platform capabilities with long-term product growth.
• Provide input on engineering-led initiatives and roadmap planning.

Requirements

• Must be based in France, Germany, or Spain.
• Significant backend engineering experience building and operating distributed systems at high scale.
• Extensive experience working with multiple types of data stores.
• Proven track record of leading impactful technical initiatives in infrastructure-focused environments.
• Strong understanding of performance, cost efficiency, and system resilience.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j, Memgraph, JanusGraph, ArangoDB, or Amazon Neptune.
• Production-grade experience with Apache Iceberg.
• Solid grasp of query planning or contributions to query engines like Trino, Calcite, or DataFusion.
