Senior Embedded Controls Software Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan, with attendance at a specific location at least 3 times per week.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and test hand-coded C software for next-generation suspension control systems.
• Own embedded software across architecture, implementation, testing, and release.
• Build and maintain unit and integration tests with strong traceability.
• Drive maintainability, robustness, software quality, and MISRA compliance.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues, contribute to Agile practices, and influence technical decisions.
• Mentor engineers and promote software development best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Strong current experience writing and debugging production embedded software directly in C; interpreting auto-generated code alone is not sufficient.
• Experience with embedded unit and integration testing.
• Working knowledge of C++ and/or Python, Git, and issue-tracking tools such as Jira.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience in chassis controls, vehicle dynamics, steering, suspension, brakes, or related mechatronic domains.
• Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, automotive standards, diagnostics, calibration tools, and automotive development processes.
• Experience with Agile development, BDD, TDD, Jira, GitHub, mentoring, or technical leadership.
• Advanced degree in a related field.
