Salary: $160,000 – $185,000

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable distributed systems for financial transactions and real-time events.
• Architect services capable of handling real-world scale, failure scenarios, and performance constraints.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and integrate AI-enabled product features across the platform.
• Maintain platform stability through observability, monitoring, and participation in on-call rotations.
• Collaborate with product and business teams to translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers and help raise engineering standards across the team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems design and high-availability production systems.
• Proficiency in at least one major web framework (e.g., Rails, Django, Express, Fastify).
• Deep knowledge of databases, including indexing, query optimization, and transactional integrity.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, and secure API design.
• Must be based in Austin, TX for in-person work.

Nice to have

• Background in payments, financial transactions, or regulated systems.
• Experience scaling systems during periods of rapid growth.
• Experience with distributed patterns like retries, circuit breakers, and event-driven workflows.
• Experience working with or evolving large Ruby on Rails applications.
• Experience integrating AI tools into engineering workflows.
