TL;DR

HW Test Engineer, Special Projects (Hardware): Leading the testing and validation of advanced sleep fitness products with an accent on end-to-end hardware validation, from prototyping to manufacturing. Focus on designing automated test applications, performing root cause analysis of PCB failures, and ensuring high-volume production quality.

Location: Must be based in San Francisco (on-site 5 days/week) or the Boulder/Denver area. Expected travel up to 20%, including trips to China.

What you will do

• Design and execute experiments to validate the performance of new hardware designs and analyze results.
• Develop and maintain automated test applications and GUIs using Python and C#/WPF.
• Build and deploy custom physical test fixtures and jigs for R&D and manufacturing environments.
• Perform hands-on root cause analysis and debug electrical and mechanical failures down to the PCB level.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering across the full product development lifecycle.
• Implement data visualization and test result reporting tools to provide actionable information.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hardware/software development experience focusing on integrated systems.
• Proven track record of shipping high-volume consumer products, including manufacturing support in Asia.
• Proficiency in Python or C#/WPF, and familiarity with hardware protocols like I2C and SPI.
• Hands-on experience with soldering, wiring, PCB bring-up, and rework.
• Degree in BSEE, BSCE, BSCS, BSME, or equivalent (MS preferred).
• Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed.
