Avionics Test Engineer (Digital/Optical)

What you will do

• Integrate and functionally test optical communication and sensing devices.
• Configure and operate FPGA evaluation boards for system-level testing.
• Develop Python and MATLAB automation scripts for data acquisition, regression testing, and results analysis.
• Perform hardware bring-up, debug signal interfaces, and validate subsystem interoperability.
• Document test plans, procedures, and results, while analyzing failure modes and recommending corrective actions.
• Support optical benches, instrumentation, test fixtures, and collaboration across hardware, FPGA, systems, and software teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in digital or optical testing.
• Hands-on experience with optical devices or optical communication systems and familiarity with FPGA evaluation boards and basic FPGA architecture.
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and data processing, plus experience using MATLAB for analysis, modeling, or automated testing.
• Strong understanding of laboratory instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, optical power meters, and logic analyzers.
• Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain a U.S. export license due to ITAR and EAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical transceivers, modulators, detectors, or related photonics hardware.
• Knowledge of FPGA toolchains such as Vivado or Quartus, or embedded systems verification.
• Background in signal processing or testing signal-processing systems.
• Familiarity with version control systems and test automation frameworks.
• Experience in a startup or fast-paced agile development environment.
