Senior Software Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Toronto, Canada. Toronto-area employees living within 65 km of the downtown headquarters collaborate in the office Monday through Thursday; remote-eligible roles may be based anywhere in Canada or the US.

Salary: $159,100–$198,000 CAD annually for Canada applicants, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain internal security tooling, automation systems, and developer-facing security capabilities.
• Develop secure backend services and APIs for authentication, authorization, secrets management, access governance, OAuth/OIDC, RBAC, and token lifecycle management.
• Build cloud and infrastructure security controls across AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes, including workload identity, encryption, container security, and runtime protection.
• Integrate security tooling into CI/CD pipelines and engineering platforms for vulnerability detection, remediation automation, policy enforcement, and telemetry collection.
• Develop security workflows for AI-enabled systems and sensitive healthcare data usage.
• Collaborate with Security, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, Compliance, and Product Engineering teams, including support for incident response and root cause analysis.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on security engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure security.
• Hands-on experience building internal engineering or security tooling in cloud-native production environments.
• Strong backend engineering experience with APIs, services, and automation systems.
• Production experience implementing secure authentication and authorization systems.
• Experience integrating security tooling into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and distributed systems.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, fintech, or enterprise SaaS environments.
• Experience with AI-enabled systems, AI-assisted engineering workflows, or LLM-based applications.
