TL;DR

Data Center Electrical Modeling Intern (Electrical Power Engineering): Modeling electrical systems for existing and future data center sites with an accent on power systems analysis and as-built modeling. Focus on performing load flow, short circuit, and arc flash studies to optimize AI cloud infrastructure.

Location: Hybrid: Must be based in San Jose or San Francisco (presence in office 4 days per week)

Salary: $41 – $55 per hour

What you will do

• Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and relay coordination studies for data center sites.
• Conduct data collection and field verification to ensure accurate as-built modeling.
• Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve power system issues found through modeling.
• Support the design and layout of emerging electrical architectures and new product introductions.
• Participate in co-location delivery reviews, site visits, and on-site commissioning.
• Develop technical range through mentorship in advanced electrical engineering domains.

Requirements

• Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of Electrical Power Engineering Theory.
• Experience with SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower for electrical modeling.
• Programming proficiency in Python, C, or similar languages.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, DC supplies, logic analyzers, and LCR meters.
• Proficiency with KiCad, LTSpice, MATLAB, LabView, or Fusion 360.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with 800VDC and Solid-State Transformers (SST).
• Experience with BMS/controls integration or IoT-based electrical telemetry.
• Knowledge of PLC Industrial Automation languages (Ladder Logic, Function Block, etc.).
• Understanding of UL891, UL1558, or ANSI/IEEE CS37.20.7 standards.
