Senior Platform Engineer (Fintech)

TL;DR

Senior Platform Engineer (TypeScript/Go): Designing and evolving internal platforms and shared engineering tools to improve Developer Experience (DevEx) with an accent on self-service tooling, observability, and data pipelines. Focus on building Internal Developer Platforms (IDP), optimizing software delivery workflows, and mentoring other engineers to increase the pace of change.

Location: Hybrid (Manchester), minimum 50% of working time per month spent in the office

What you will do

• Maintain and evolve core engineering platforms, including Backstage internal developer portals and Grafana observability tools.
• Develop engineering data platforms utilizing ELT workflows, DBT, and SQL-based data pipelines.
• Improve developer experience by building self-service tooling, templates, and golden paths.
• Streamline software delivery workflows and engineering practices to increase deployment pace.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams while mentoring other Platform Engineers.
• Drive the adoption of modern platform tools and security best practices in software delivery.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing and operating internal platforms and shared engineering tooling.
• Hands-on proficiency with TypeScript or Go.
• Experience building and supporting Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).
• Experience with data platforms, ELT workflows, DBT, and SQL-based pipelines.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Must be based in or able to work hybridly from Manchester (minimum 50% office presence).
