Principal DevOps Engineer

TL;DR

Principal DevOps Engineer (SaaS/Cloud Communications): Serving as the technical lead and architect for infrastructure, automation, and deployments with an accent on Windows-based high availability and end-to-end delivery pipelines. Focus on designing Windows clustering solutions, leading Linux automation, and maturing CI/CD strategies via Terraform and Ansible.

What you will do

• Act as the technical lead for DevOps, Platform, and Release engineering, defining direction, standards, and best practices.
• Architect and govern end-to-end delivery, including infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and support Windows-based high availability solutions with deep ownership of Windows clustering and failover patterns.
• Lead Linux automation and platform standardization, focusing on configuration, patching, hardening, and performance tuning.
• Own the Infrastructure as Code strategy using Terraform and the automation strategy using Ansible.
• Establish observability standards using VictoriaMetrics and Prometheus for alerting and SLO/SLA monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering, including leadership in complex environments.
• Expert-level experience designing and operating Windows Server HA and Failover Clustering.
• Advanced skills with Terraform and Ansible for architecture and reusable components.
• Strong deployment experience with Octopus Deploy and GitHub, including release governance and rollback strategies.
• Must be located in the UK.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD platforms like GitLab CI or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of logging platforms such as ELK/EFK or Loki.
• Expertise in DR/BCP design and zero-downtime upgrade strategies.
• Experience with VMWare, HyperV, or highly available MS SQL Server environments.
• Experience managing VOIP components (SIP, FreeSwitch) and load balancing (F5 LTM/GTM).
• Experience administering AWS or Azure tenants.
