TL;DR

What you will do

  • Lead the design of electro-mechanical subsystems, integrating mechanical structures with power distribution and electrical components.
  • Translate system-level requirements into manufacturable designs meeting performance, reliability, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers on cabling, grounding, and component integration.
  • Design and package electrical hardware such as breakers, relays, and PLCs within mechanical architecture.
  • Drive prototype builds, testing, and debugging, owning issues through root cause and resolution.
  • Support the product development lifecycle, including design reviews, DFM/DFA, and supplier engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in electro-mechanical design.
  • Strong expertise in sheet metal, machined components, and structural/thermal considerations.
  • Proven experience integrating high-voltage or 3-phase power systems into mechanical designs.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and product data management systems.
  • Must be based in San Jose, CA (no relocation) and eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with semiconductor test equipment or similar complex systems.
  • Knowledge of power distribution architecture, EMI/EMC, grounding, or FEA analysis.
