Lead Engineer (AI/Django/React)

What you will do

• Lead the Oobeo engineering team, managing priorities, standups, code reviews, and performance management.
• Act as the primary power user and evangelist for AI-paired development using Claude Code and similar tools.
• Own technical architecture and direction for the Django monolith, React frontend, and React Native mobile apps.
• Develop and review fullstack code across Python/Django, React/TypeScript, and mobile applications.
• Manage AWS and GCP infrastructure, transitioning from manual management to Terraform (IaC).
• Establish automated testing frameworks (pytest-django) to improve production stability and security.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with 5+ years of shipping Django in production.
• Expertise in Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, and React/TypeScript.
• Working proficiency with React Native for iOS and Android mobile development.
• Experience managing or leading small engineering teams, including mentoring and setting standards.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Dallas, Texas, United States.
• Strong experience with AWS (Elastic Beanstalk) and Google Cloud Platform.

Nice to have

• Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Experience with Stripe Connect, Twilio SMS/Voice, or Square Mobile Payments SDK.
• Background in hospitality or parking technology.
• App Store Connect and Google Play Console deployment experience.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools like Datadog or Sentry.
