Salary: $170,000–$210,000 annually

What you will do
- Act as the primary legal advisor to customer-facing teams on ERISA, IRC, and fiduciary questions across the full customer lifecycle.
- Translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for product managers and engineers to build against.
- Review participant-facing communications, SPDs, and disclosures to ensure ERISA compliance.
- Analyze how proposed product features trigger 3(16), 3(21), or 3(38) fiduciary duties and advise on the best path forward.
- Draft and maintain internal legal policies, procedures, and educational resources to ensure consistent application of ERISA requirements.
Requirements
- Must be based in the United States.
- Admitted to the bar and in good standing, or authorized to practice law in any US state.
- 5–8 years of substantive ERISA experience focused on qualified retirement plans and fiduciary matters.
- Minimum of two years of experience practicing ERISA law at a law firm.
- Deep knowledge of EPCRS, IRC qualification rules, and prohibited transaction rules.
- Proficiency in using modern AI tools for legal research, drafting, and analysis.
Nice to have
- In-house experience at a recordkeeper, TPA, fintech, or trust company.
- Direct experience with 3(16), 3(21), or 3(38) fiduciary operations.
- Experience providing legal input on product, operational, or technology decisions.
