Assistant General Counsel, Employment (Fintech)

TL;DR

Assistant General Counsel, Employment (Fintech): Providing legal advice on enterprise-level employment policies and risk assessments for US and international operations with an accent on ethics, compliance, and labor law. Focus on structuring separation agreements, managing employment litigation, and advising the People Team on complex organizational changes.

Location: Must be based in Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; or Washington, DC with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

Salary: $170,000 - $255,000 (depending on location)

What you will do

• Advise the People and Compliance teams on employment law and ethics strategy across US and international locations.
• Partner with leadership on benefits, compensation, immigration, and corporate policy.
• Develop and review policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and international employment laws.
• Manage employment-related investigations, terminations, and business reorganizations.
• Support litigation and enforcement teams with pre-litigation and regulatory charges.
• Draft separation agreements and new hire onboarding documents.

Requirements

• J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least 1 U.S. state bar.
• 7+ years of legal practice experience, including at least 3 years specializing in employment law.
• Strong analytical skills to balance business needs with legal risks.
• Ability to communicate complex legal requirements to non-legal partners.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; or Washington, DC.
