Salary: $225,000 – $335,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Provide strategic legal advice on the design and rollout of payment products and financial infrastructure.
• Advise on regulatory requirements including money transmission, AML/BSA, and card network rules.
• Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements with processors, acquiring banks, and fintech partners.
• Partner with Compliance and Risk teams to develop scalable policies and controls.
• Support international expansion by assessing cross-border licensing and regulatory frameworks.
• Collaborate with Business Development on strategic financial partnerships.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 9+ years of experience in a top law firm or in-house legal department.
• 3+ years of experience specifically advising on payments, fintech, or financial services.
• Deep understanding of payments law, card network rules, and merchant acquiring frameworks.
• Proven experience negotiating commercial and technology agreements with financial institutions.
• Must live within commuting distance of NYC, Seattle, SF, or LA hubs.
