Principal Cloud Solutions Architect (Azure Cloud)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada; up to 20% travel may be required for client meetings, project work, or team collaboration.

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 USD annual base salary.

What you will do

• Partner with clients, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to define and architect end-to-end Azure solutions.
• Design scalable, secure, and high-performing Azure architectures across compute, storage, security, and platform services.
• Lead data and analytics architecture using Azure Databricks and modern lakehouse patterns.
• Develop cloud networking and identity strategies, including VNets, hybrid connectivity, private endpoints, Azure AD, RBAC, Conditional Access, and Zero Trust.
• Drive monitoring, logging, observability, resiliency, high availability, disaster recovery, governance, and architecture standards.
• Lead architecture reviews, guide technical decisions, mentor engineers and junior architects, and evaluate emerging technologies.

Requirements

• 15+ years of IT experience, including at least 10 years focused on cloud architecture; Azure experience is preferred.
• Proven experience working directly with clients and cross-functional development teams to deliver enterprise solutions.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure compute, storage, security, and platform services.
• Hands-on Azure Databricks experience and modern data architecture knowledge, including data lakes, ETL/ELT, streaming, and lakehouse patterns.
• Strong cloud networking knowledge, including hub-and-spoke architectures, VPN or ExpressRoute, DNS, and load balancing.
• Extensive IAM experience with Azure AD, RBAC, SSO, MFA, and Zero Trust frameworks.
• Experience designing operational excellence practices covering monitoring, automation, incident response, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates, and with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience delivering complex, multi-tier, distributed application architectures in cloud environments.
• Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and client relationship skills, with the ability to influence technical and executive stakeholders.
