What you will do

  • Lead the creation of complex, high-resolution digital matte paintings and environment projections.
  • Collaborate with VFX supervisors and directors to establish artistic vision and technical approaches.
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows to solve creative and technical challenges.
  • Oversee the integration of matte paintings into final shots alongside lighting and compositing teams.
  • Act as a key creative voice in project meetings and reviews.
  • Mentor junior artists and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a digital matte painter in a senior or lead role.
  • Mastery of Photoshop and deep understanding of 3D software like Maya and Nuke.
  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing composition, light, color, and photo-realism.
  • Extensive knowledge of the VFX pipeline and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a track record of mentoring.
  • Must be based in Australia or willing to relocate (sponsorship available).
