What you will do

• Create a wide range of stylized visual effects including fluids, cloth, particles, pyro, and rigid body dynamics.
• Collaborate with the FX Supervisor to align technical and artistic objectives for specific shots and sequences.
• Adapt simulation styles to match project requirements, ranging from hyper-realistic to highly stylized aesthetics.
• Optimize simulations and renders for efficiency while maintaining high visual quality within production constraints.
• Organize, manage, and maintain simulation files and assets throughout the production pipeline.
• Communicate progress, technical issues, and anticipated challenges to the production team.

Requirements

• Must hold a valid Canadian work authorization.
• 5+ years of experience as an FX artist in animation or live-action VFX.
• High proficiency in Houdini.
• Strong understanding of physics and natural phenomena, particularly water simulation.
• Experience with modern ray-tracing renderers like RenderMan or Arnold.
• Experience with compositing and integrating FX elements in Nuke.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of VEX scripting or Python.
• Experience creating and maintaining HDAs/OTLs.
• Familiarity with USD workflow and Solaris.
• Experience with Gaffer or Katana.
• Familiarity with other pipeline areas like modeling, rigging, or lighting.
