What you will do

• Lead the transition of IEC 61850-based digital and virtual substations from pilot to production environments.
• Develop SCL engineering artifacts (ICD, CID, SCD) and configure MMS, GOOSE, and SV messaging.
• Design real-time networking paths utilizing PRP/HSR, VLANs, and PTP time-synchronization architectures.
• Integrate multi-vendor IEDs with protection settings and coordinate data with SCADA and HMI systems.
• Incorporate cybersecurity principles and cyber-informed engineering into system architectures.
• Develop virtualized substation applications on platforms such as VMware ESXi and Red Hat KVM.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support Engineer of Record (EOR) requirements.
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding including background and drug screenings.

Nice to have

• Experience with VMware vCenter, vSAN, NSX, or Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
• Familiarity with vPAC architectural principles for hosting protection and control systems on virtual platforms.
• Experience with industrial servers certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards.
• Participation in IEEE or IEC standards development.
