What you will do
- Lead the transition of IEC 61850-based digital and virtual substations from pilot to production environments.
- Develop SCL engineering artifacts (ICD, CID, SCD) and configure MMS, GOOSE, and SV messaging.
- Design real-time networking paths utilizing PRP/HSR, VLANs, and PTP time-synchronization architectures.
- Integrate multi-vendor IEDs with protection settings and coordinate data with SCADA and HMI systems.
- Incorporate cybersecurity principles and cyber-informed engineering into system architectures.
- Develop virtualized substation applications on platforms such as VMware ESXi and Red Hat KVM.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support Engineer of Record (EOR) requirements.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding including background and drug screenings.
Nice to have
- Experience with VMware vCenter, vSAN, NSX, or Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
- Familiarity with vPAC architectural principles for hosting protection and control systems on virtual platforms.
- Experience with industrial servers certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards.
- Participation in IEEE or IEC standards development.
