What you will do
- Create and submit healthcare claims to insurance companies, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Review medical criteria and patient documentation to verify they meet required standards.
- Communicate with patients to provide claim status updates and handle the collection of outstanding invoices.
- Conduct investigational calls to insurance providers to determine the status of outstanding claims.
- Negotiate structured payment plans and maintain up-to-date patient claim information in the CRM.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies, HIPAA, and other regulatory and legal requirements.
Requirements
- Must be based in the United States.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing or a related field.
- Proven experience working within a HIPAA controlled environment.
- Proficiency in CMS billing codes, modifiers, and Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) 1500 forms.
Nice to have
- Experience billing durable medical equipment (DME).
- Background in diabetes or other disease management device/diagnostics.
