Location: Remote. Preference will be given to candidates legally authorized to work in the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, United Kingdom, or Zambia.

What you will do

• Lead hole design, drilling method selection, and rig specification for diamond core, sonic, reverse circulation, and air core programs.
• Develop comprehensive execution plans, including scope, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and procurement strategies.
• Conduct detailed root cause analysis on downhole failures and generate creative solutions to improve efficiency and safety.
• Collaborate with science teams to translate exploration hypotheses and data objectives into executable drilling programs and AFEs.
• Provide technical oversight of operations across multiple concurrent programs, managing contractor performance and safety standards.
• Mentor junior drilling engineers to develop their technical and operational skills.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or Masters degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, Civil, Geological, or Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in drilling engineering for oil and gas or mineral exploration.
• Advanced knowledge of diamond core drilling and helicopter-supported exploration operations.
• Proficiency in hole design and analysis software tools.
• English proficiency (speaking, reading, writing) is required.
• Ability to work in remote and isolated locations for extended periods across diverse global environments.

Nice to have

• French fluency or other languages relevant to operating jurisdictions.
• Expert-level drilling experience in Africa.
• Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams of Geologists and Data Scientists.
• Knowledge of regulatory, environmental, and permitting frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
• Professional registration (P.Eng. or equivalent).
