What you will do

• Lead and grow a team of senior software engineers and engineering managers.
• Own the strategy and execution for backend platforms, including Python and Elixir cores.
• Partner with reliability and product teams to scale infrastructure and improve developer ergonomics.
• Guide senior ICs through complex architectural decisions and platform migrations.
• Drive measurable improvements in platform reliability, performance, and production behavior.
• Build a culture of engineering excellence, clear ownership, and disciplined deprecation.

Requirements

• 10+ years of industry experience in platform or infrastructure engineering.
• 7+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
• Proven track record building and operating backend platforms used by other engineering teams.
• Strong technical grounding in high-traffic realtime or event-driven systems.
• Ability to steward technical direction across multiple workstreams and guide senior ICs.
• Must live within commuting distance of San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Seattle.
