Engineering Manager - SMS Delivery (Python/Go)

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend and full-stack engineers building the mobile sender registration and KYC platform.
• Define the team's roadmap and sequence work to improve mobile activation and time-to-first-send for customers.
• Drive architecture for sender management, provider integration, and a unified channel-agnostic framework.
• Automate sender registration into in-app, API-driven workflows across various markets.
• Improve system reliability and observability through SLOs, actionable alerting, and registration telemetry.
• Integrate AI for automated registration triage, anomaly detection, and agentic operations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years of engineering management leading production systems.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Go, with the ability to contribute to design docs and code reviews.
• Strong background in distributed systems and high-throughput, event-driven architectures on AWS.
• Experience owning a platform, defining domain boundaries, and designing APIs for other engineering teams.
• Proven track record of coaching engineers from senior to lead levels.
• Must be based in or able to work from Boston, MA for a hybrid schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with SMS, RCS, or WhatsApp ecosystems and telecom APIs.
• Background in regulated systems involving compliance, identity, or KYC (fintech, healthcare, telecom).
• Experience migrating services from a monolith to independently deployable domain-owned services.
• Experience with multi-region deployments and large-scale data migrations.
