What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy production-grade GenAI systems, including RAG architectures, vector databases, and LLM integrations.
• Build and maintain evaluation and testing harnesses to validate LLM output quality and prevent regressions.
• Collaborate with platform and product teams to integrate AI capabilities into TyrOS workflows.
• Work with engineers, product managers, and military stakeholders to align AI systems with real-world sustainment requirements.
• Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews to maintain engineering rigor.
• Triage and debug production issues to ensure reliability and rapid iteration.

Requirements

• Must be based in or work on-site in Rosslyn, VA; New York City; or Seattle, WA.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend foundation in distributed systems and APIs.
• Hands-on experience building GenAI systems, including vector databases and RAG architectures.
• Familiarity with tool routing, tool-call validation, and LLM failure modes.
• Deep understanding of the science behind AI systems, including where they break and why they work.
• Strong sense of ownership and a bias for action.

Nice to have

• Experience with fine-tuning or model evaluation workflows.
• Familiarity with AI infrastructure, embedding pipelines, and inference optimization.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, or other complex operational domains.
• Experience deploying software to AWS and Kubernetes.
