What you will do

  • Own end-to-end global indirect tax compliance (US SUT, Canadian GST/HST, EMEA/APAC VAT/GST), including nexus analysis and filing.
  • Assess SaaS taxability rules and maintain guidance for transactions across various jurisdictions.
  • Oversee exemption certificate processes and tax engine configuration within Avalara.
  • Perform monthly accruals and quarterly reconciliations to ensure audit and SOX readiness.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Billing, Legal, and Accounting on tax matters for product launches and customer structures.
  • Drive process improvements and automation, including AI-enabled enhancements to compliance workflows.

Requirements

  • Experience managing indirect tax compliance for US, Canada, and international (EMEA/APAC) markets.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously in a lean team and handle multiple compliance cycles.
  • Proficiency with finance and tax systems such as Avalara, NetSuite, and Zuora.
  • Strong skills in reconciliation, documentation, and supporting SOX processes.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills for cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Relevant education in tax, accounting, or finance.
