Software Engineer (Applied AI)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Applied AI): Developing and deploying AI/ML capabilities across defense product lines with an accent on model integration and inference services. Focus on building robust AI systems for adversarial, GPS-denied, and edge environments to ensure domain dominance.

Location: Must work on-site at least 2 days per week from the San Francisco office (2–4 days preferred)

Salary: $150k–$170k base

What you will do

• Build applied AI systems, including model integration, inference services, and evaluation pipelines.
• Research and develop robust, testable models by collaborating with product and mission teams.
• Optimize model performance for real-world conditions, such as edge deployments and adversarial environments.
• Develop production-quality data pipelines for acquisition, serving, and lifecycle management.
• Create and iterate rapid prototypes into production-ready implementations.
• Enhance system reliability through benchmarking, observability, and failure analysis.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, ML, Physics, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with production software systems.
• Experience with AI/ML model integration, serving infrastructure, or lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with APIs, distributed systems, containers, CI/CD, and GPU optimization.
• Must be based in or able to relocate to San Francisco (hybrid on-site requirement).

Nice to have

• Experience with RF signal processing or digital image/video processing.
• Background in productizing LLM apps, computer vision, or autonomous/robotic systems.
• Experience with drone, sensor fusion, or moving-target detection systems.
• Contributions to open-source projects or significant public technical work.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or mission-critical environments.
