TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Identity): Building and scaling core authentication and authorization backend APIs for the Stytch identity platform with an accent on agentic and non-human identity use cases. Focus on designing high-impact developer-first features, ensuring system resilience at scale, and operating with high ownership in a startup-like environment.

Location: Remote (US only). Note: Not eligible for hire in San Francisco, Oakland, or San Jose, CA.

Compensation: $141,520 – $208,000 (varies by location).

What you will do

• Build and own backend product capabilities for the identity platform, shipping new API surfaces and authentication flows.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to translate customer needs into high-impact roadmap features.
• Collaborate across teams to align on architecture and integrate platform capabilities.
• Drive key technical decisions, author design documentation, and perform code reviews.
• Improve production quality and resilience through observability and incident response.
• Mentor and support other engineers to raise the team's technical bar.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in designing and operating high-scale, mission-critical cloud-based production systems.
• Extensive experience with RESTful API design and development.
• Proficiency in a modern programming language and high-quality coding standards.
• Must be based in the US (excluding specific Bay Area locations).
• Ability to work non-standard, on-call rotation including weekends and holidays.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Go, TypeScript, and DynamoDB.
• Experience building developer tools or SDKs.
• Experience owning products consumed by paying customers.
