TL;DR

Water Power Intermediate Engineer (Mechanical): Designing and analyzing hydro-mechanical equipment for power projects with an accent on penstocks, hydraulic gates, and turbine generators. Focus on applying 3D solid modeling, stress analysis, and hydraulic system design to deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions.

Location: Must be based in Vancouver, BC, Canada

Salary: $76,000 - $100,000

What you will do

  • Perform engineering calculations for hydro-mechanical equipment design.
  • Undertake detailed design and specification of mechanical systems and materials.
  • Conduct technical selection, sizing, and evaluation of equipment.
  • Participate in site evaluations and data collection.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-discipline teams on project delivery.
  • Support office and site safety training and inductions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with EGBC.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a Mechanical EIT.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and analytical software.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in hydropower, machine design, piping, or pressure vessels.
  • Proficiency in AFT Fathom/Arrow, NASTRAN, Ansys, MathCAD, or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Willingness to register for PE (USA).
