TL;DR

Location: Remote in Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, or South Africa

What you will do

  • Drive the technical strategy across Partners engineering teams, from architecture decisions to hands-on implementation.
  • Design core backend services for high-performance distributed systems with a focus on scale and reliability.
  • Act as the technical authority on partner integrations, shaping how third-party PSPs connect with the platform.
  • Lead and influence engineers across teams through code, design reviews, and technical mentorship.
  • Resolve cross-team technical dependencies and drive the adoption of BDD, TDD, and rigorous documentation.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to shape roadmap decisions based on technical constraints and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience at Staff or Principal level, setting technical direction across multiple teams.
  • Deep backend engineering expertise with a track record of designing scalable distributed systems.
  • Solid understanding of payments infrastructure or developer platform engineering.
  • Proficiency in Python is a strong advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to make complex decisions legible to stakeholders.
  • Must be based in Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, or South Africa.
