Hardware Lab Technician (IoT)

TL;DR

Hardware Lab Technician (IoT): Supporting audio and thermal hardware engineers in an R&D environment to develop next-generation wearable AR glasses with an accent on acoustic and thermal characterization. Focus on performing precise measurements, executing test scripts, and troubleshooting hardware prototypes.

Location: Must be based in person at the Santa Monica office 5 days a week

What you will do

• Support Audio, Thermal, and other hardware engineers in a fast-paced R&D environment.
• Perform acoustic and thermal testing of next-generation wearables using microphones, speakers, thermocouples, and IR cameras.
• Set up equipment, execute test scripts, and report data using DAQs and anechoic/thermal chambers.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and modify prototypes, test equipment, and fixtures.
• Manage and prioritize multiple competing technical requests with minimal supervision.

Requirements

• A.S., B.S., or technical training in a science or engineering field.
• 3+ years of experience as a laboratory technician.
• Ability to work in a lab environment, lift up to 50lbs, and perform repetitive manual tasks.
• Ability to accurately read and follow schematics, technical diagrams, and operating procedures.
• Knowledge of Python, Matlab, or other test scripting and automation tools.
• Proficiency in configuring and maintaining Mac/Windows computers.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of laboratory experience specifically with consumer electronics.
• Industry experience in audio recording, production, or acoustic measurement.
• Experience with SoundCheck, Audio Precision, and HBK measurement tools.
• Hands-on experience with PCB component rework and soldering.
• Experience operating metrology equipment such as Keyence or Instron.
